Next to Jeans, These are the Pants I Reach for Most Come Spring (and Summer)
the ones I'm obsessed with and the ones I've got my eye on
TLDR - I love silky trousers. These are my favorite on the market. xx
Over the past few weeks I’ve been deep in the throws of spring cleaning my closet. (Like, deep. Cuts were made.)
As I was going through my trousers I noticed a common, perhaps, lustrous thread - a growing collection (exhibits a, b, c, and d) of silky, almost pajama like, wide leg trousers.
Next to jeans, they are perhaps one of my most reached for pants come warmer weather. They are the perfect combination of effortless, elevated, functional (especially if they have pockets) and feminine. They feel chic and polished, but also laid-back and comfortable. As Little Red Riding Hood would say, “they’re just right”.
In terms of styling, I love to dress them down with a simple tee, tank or oversized button down (I think we all have some version of this Leandra Cohen outfit saved on a Pinterest board). That being said, they can easily be dressed up with a more formal top and pair of kitten heels.
Idk if the algorithm is in my head, but over the past few weeks I’ve come across a bevy of silky options. Below are the one’s that I’d easily (and very much so might) *add to cart*.

Almada recently launched their satin collection and I’m very intrigued. The collection features a slip skirt and a very “Row-ish” pair of silky pants - both on my wishlist. What peaked my interest though is the composition. They are made of a blend of 75% Naia ™ Eastman acetate - a newer, more sustainable (it looks promising!) alternative to acetate - and 25% polyester. I have own one “Naia™️” dress and when I initially tried it on I legitimately thought it was silk.

These Reformation pants remind me of a pair I have from Vince that I always get asked about. They read a bit more “pajama-y” due to the tie waist, but still feel polished. They also have this pair that has a slimmer leg and is bias cut, however it’s made from a synthetic blend (also Naia™️ and polyester) instead of silk.
Editors note: bias cutting is a technique that involves cutting the fabric at a diagonal angle across the weave of the fabric, aka the grain, instead of with the grain, which gives fabric more elasticity. Pieces that are bias cut have a more delicate drape and appear to "hug you in all the right places”.

These are a fan favorite for a reason. Vince has been making these pants for years (originally in silk before switching to synthetic). I have a cream pair, but I love this “haystack” color that they currently have in stock. While I’m not thrilled that they switched to synthetic, they are significantly easier to care for and wrinkle less. I also just noticed as I was writing this that they too switched to Naia™️ acetate. We love to see it!

I couldn’t do a round up of silky pants and not include these. I have yet to try them on so I can’t speak to them personally, but people love them, and the Row rarely disappoints. Their construction and material choices are always top notch imo. I’ve seen various fabrications on the market based on the season - a wool-mohair blend, wool-viscose blend and triacetate-poly blend - something to keep in mind if you are considering a pair.

I’ve also heard great things about these - especially as an alternative to the Row Gala.

Out of all of the options mentioned, these Sl’eau pants are perhaps in a league of their own (along with the Row for different reasons). They are made of a heavy weight, crepe-backed silk satin that is 100% silk. Everyone I’ve talked to who has them raves about them. They are bias cut (we love) and also have a biodegradable elastic waistband which you don’t see often.

Recently spotted this option from Leset and love the wider leg.

Donni recently launched their take on a silky trousers and they look like a solid option under $175. The mushroom color reminds me of my Raey pants, but you can’t go wrong with black or navy.

I haven’t personally tried these from La Ligne, but they always catch my eye. Especially this color, although they are also available in black and navy. They are bias cut as well.
I’d be remised not to mention these silk twill pair from Lou Lou Studio (also available in black), but there’s something about the silver that feels special. The leg looks ever so slightly more tapered than the others mentioned, but it makes up for it with pockets.
xx, Sarah
This comes at a perfect time because I have satin pants on my spring wishlist. Some of these are on my research list so thank you for putting this together. Makes my search so much easier!
So glad you put together this round-up! I've been eyeing the Vince Satin Bias pants forever and have wanted them in the Bona colour but they've been sold out in my size. I was thinking of the Haystack colour as another option - how would you describe the shade? Would you say they lean towards a cream colour?
