How to Shop Strategically During Sale Seasons
plus purchase-worthy favorites from the MyTheresa, SSENSE, Net-a-Porter and Luisaviaroma sales
Private sales at MyTheresa and Net-a-Porter, another secret SSENSE sale, and juicy markdowns on Luisaviaroma - sale season is definitely upon us.
I love a good deal. However I refuse to be a victim of “the deal”. I firmly believe it’s possible to shop sales without losing all sense of self agency.
When sale seasons roll around I like implement a few strategies. First, buying things I already have a connection with. Could be a wishlist item or a brand or piece I’ve always wanted to try; whatever the case is, I’m already attached to it or attached to it beyond the fact that it’s on sale.
Second, focusing on wardrobe builders. Very rarely do I buy something that’s “good enough” or only works for one specific use. I like to focus on things that will last a long time and that I can see myself holding on to for a good chunk of time.
Right now, the sale selection is gooood. Tons of seasonally relevant pieces (in addition to end-of-season pieces) and core pieces that you would not expect to be on sale.
Below are a handful (perhaps ‘armful’ is more appropriate) of wardrobe builders and special pieces that I feel are purchase worthy. Pieces that I already own, or could see sitting in my closet for a long-time, and have endless styling potential.
P.S. You need to be logged into MyTheresa, Net-a-Porter, and SSENSE to access their sales. Also I think the MyTheresa sale ends tonight so move quickly!

I know we’ve all got our eyes firmly on spring and summer, but there are some fantastic cold weather pieces out there. Namely, this 100% wool coat from Wardrobe NYC. Khaite also has some great boots included in their sale. These short Marfa’s (also available in khaki suede) look so chic with slim and wide jeans or paired with a long skirt.

I always love to pick up Lisa Yang when I see it on sale. Their cashmere is incredible. Pricey, but incredible. The Sofi pant is great if you are 5’4” or taller (they’re almost too long for me). The Renske has The Row Ophelia vibes, whereas the Sony is a bit more cropped in the body.

The same goes for Flore Flore. If you haven’t tried their basics, I highly recommend. They’re thick, but not too thick, hold their shape, and wear and launder really well. I personally love the trim on on their styles - they give their pieces a very 90s feel. So far I have the Esme, Max and Steffi in white.
Ok off to bed as it’s way past my bedtime here. Feel free to shoot me a note if you have any questions on fit or styling!
Memorial Day Weekend Update
The entire internet decided to go on sale over the past few days - Moda Operandi started their Designer Sale, as did Net-a-Porter and ShopBop all boasting markdowns up to 50% off. Theoretically these are ‘hard marks’ meaning they will stay on sale until they are sold out.
Lot’s of goodies on Net-a-Porter. These pants are fantastic - pair with an oversized white linen button down and your favorite sandals. Ditto these shorts. Love the detail on these!
These mules remind me of the pair I have from The Row, but with an edgier vibe.
Two good “going out tops” - this stunner from Allude (reminds me of one I have from Toteme), and this one from Staud (would also pair great with a blazer or coat over it in the winter).
And I know we’re heading into summer but these gloves feel like a no-brainer for fall/winter.
Two great guest of wedding options (from one of my favorite NYC brands) at ShopBop. Both have tons of styling potential outside of attending a wedding - this red number and this black number.
Also spotted my black leather skirt on sale on ShopBop! So incredibly flattering.
Moving onto Moda. This skirt is excellent for the summer. If you’re short, simply give the fringe a trim.
A good pair of classic-with-a-twist earrings.
A great looking oversized denim shirt. Its a cotton-lyocell blend so it will be lighter weight with a softer, silkier hand-feel.
If you love Leset’s Barb pants, I believe these are the shorts version, so nice for warmer months!
I have a hard time saying no to Khaite 40% off and have always loved the Sara bag.
Another perfect guest of wedding option with lots of non-guest-of-wedding potential - look at that back!
Hope you’re having a great long weekend! xx, Sarah
You have an eye!
Thank you my dear! Honestly there are so many good pieces it was difficult to narrow them down haha.
